Welcome back to the Limitless Living Podcast. I'm your host, Frederica Davis, wellness expert, entrepreneur, and the creator of the reset method. Today is Wellness Reset Thursday. This is where we talk about the habits and shifts and strategies that help your body, your mind, and your nervous system reset so that you can feel your best again. So if you've been asking yourself, what supplements should I really take? What tests should I ask for? What does my body really need? Why does it feel so different lately? And feeling like no matter how much information you take in, you still feel unsure. This episode is for you. Maybe you feel like your body has changed. That's common over 40 for sure, if not before, for some women. And what used to work for you just isn't working anymore. You're trying to do the right things. Maybe you're reading, researching, listening, maybe even buying all the things. But instead of clarity, you feel more confused. Now, I'm going to be the first one to tell you, I've nicknamed myself an education junkie. I love knowledge, I love learning, and I eat, breathe, and sleep it and research everything. However, that said, if you find yourself feeling more confused, once you're bringing all of this information in, and underneath all of it, you have this quiet thought like I don't actually know what my body needs anymore. Where do I even begin? This is for you. So this is actually something that came up inside my limitless living group recently. There were questions about supplements, about testing, about skin changes, and what I realized is those are all different questions, but they're pointing to the same thing. Now, before we go deeper, I want to say this. This is not medical advice, and there is absolute, absolutely, and there is absolutely a place for testing and working with your doctor. But what we're talking about today is something most people skip in this process, and that's actually learning how to listen and understand your body in the first place. So the problem isn't that you don't have enough information. In most cases today, it's that we have too much information, and you're trying to fix things without understanding what your body might actually be asking for. So I just went through some of this myself recently. I took a step back, I do this periodically, and really looked at everything that I was taking: supplements, nutrients, all of it. And what I realized was that there was a pretty good amount of overlap and there was duplication. Honestly, there was just more than I needed to actually be taking. And that happens pretty easy when you're reading this blog or you're reading this article, or you're looking at a bottle and what it says it will do for you, and then all of a sudden, like, oh, I need this. Oh, yeah, okay, that might help me. This might help me. And we go down this rabbit hole and we start layering things on. So as I pull back, way back, I removed about maybe 70-80% of what I was taking. And instead of adding more or replacing it, I went right back to really paying attention. What does my body actually need right now? Because at the moment that I started taking those, I likely needed them. However, we start doing that, we get into this rhythm, and then we just keep adding more, and we need to pause, we need to push the pause button, start listening to what we really need, and we need to do that more frequently than most of us do. That one shift alone gave me more clarity than anything that I might have chosen to add in. So before you add more, you have to understand what your body is asking for. Now, let me give you a few examples of what I mean. If you're feeling exhausted all the time, your body might not need another supplement, another stimulant, another cup of coffee. It might need more sleep, more nourishment. You might be eating, but maybe not getting enough nourishment. Maybe it needs less stress or just simply some more consistency built into your days. If your skin is changing, it's getting dry and crepey and dull, it might not just be about skincare products. It could be that you have a hydration issue, an inflammation issue, a nutrient absorption issue, or hormonal shifts. If you're feeling bloated, inflamed, or puffy, that's not random either. That's feedback. That could be that you've got too much stress, your gut health is off, you've got food sensitivities, or just simply overload from doing too much. And if you're constantly searching for the next thing to take, that's usually not a supplement problem, that's a clarity problem. Now, while everybody is different, there are a few things that I do see over and over again with women over 40. Most women don't need more complexity, that's for sure. They need more consistency in a few key areas. Now, number one is going to be your nervous system support. You will hear me say this many times in many ways. This is at the core of everything. If your body is constantly in a stress state, nothing works the way it's supposed to. Not your digestion, not your hormones, not your energy. This is foundational. This will show up in energy disruptions, sleep disruptions, the condition of your skin, all sorts of things, mental clarity, and so on. Number two, better nourishment, not the restriction we often go to. A lot of women are undereating, actually under eating. Yes, there's women overeating. Sometimes that happens, but there's a tremendous number of people who are under-eating, or they're eating enough quantity, but they're not eating enough of the right foods with nutrients, so they are actually nutrient deficient, otherwise known as malnourished. So over-restricting what you eat, being inconsistent with how you eat and what you eat, these all create more problems than they solve. Your body needs real food, it needs enough fuel and it needs nutrients and it needs consistency. It's as simple as that. It's not rocket science, but it is something that you need to evaluate and really figure out if that's a piece of your puzzle. So simplicity, that's number three. We need simplicity, not more and more and more and more supplements or too many protocols or too many opinions, quite frankly. This creates overwhelm and disconnect, which only contribute to a nervous system becoming even more dysregulated. Your body responds better when things are simple, consistent, and aligned. Now, your body isn't confusing. It might feel like it's confusing, especially as we approach these 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond. But it's really not. We've just been taught to look outside of ourselves for the answers and been taught to look at the symptom instead of learning how to read what's already there. So here's what I want you to start doing. Number one, I want you to pause before adding anything new. Give your body some space. You don't need to keep stacking things on top of confusion. Number two, start noticing your patterns. When do you feel your best? What was the pattern there? Did you eat well that day? Were you well hydrated? Did you have a great night's sleep? Were you less stressed that day? Were you out in the sunshine that day, or the day before, or the few days leading up to that? Because often what we experience today is a result of what we did yesterday and a few days before. How did you sleep? Same scenario that you're going to be looking at, looking for patterns. What was your stress level like today, yesterday, a few days ago? And then when do you feel off when something's wrong? Maybe it's a headache, maybe it's stiffness, maybe it's tension, maybe it's you just can't put your finger on it. I want you to start paying attention to that and thinking about what is happening at that moment and what led up to that. You know, the last several days, even a week. You don't need another complicated system of supplements, more than likely. Truly, truly, truly. You don't need a complicated system, just awareness. It's genuinely what most everyone needs to start. And then, number three, I want you to ask better questions. Instead of what should I take next? I want you to start asking, what do I actually need more of right now? So that is going to be do I need more sleep? Do I need more hydration? Do I need better nutrition? Do I need more stress reduction? Do I need more moments of pause? What is it? Do I need more vitamin C? Yes, that can come in as an example. But I want you to start noticing, listening, and looking at patterns first. This is the step that so many women skip. We just skipped this because we go right to the quick fix. And we, you know, that's either a medicine or a supplement when really we need to start looking here. So, you know, years past, uh, when a doctor looked at you, he looked at you as a whole system made up of multiple systems that were connected. Today, that just isn't the case. And mentally speaking, we often do that and we look to solve each problem as a singular problem. What I'm suggesting, what I'm I'm encouraging you to do, is to look at yourself on the whole and look at your life on the whole and see how it's all fitting together and where the patterns are. So let me give you a question to leave you with that you can ask yourself over and over and over again for all time, quite frankly. What is my body asking me for right now?
